FIRST ASSOCIATES MEMBERS JOIN CLUB
The first of our new Associate members joined the Club on 13 May. Denis McMahon and Terry Steven of McMahon Property Managers felt that the terms of the new membership were tailored for their circumstances, and offered the perfect solution to the "occasional" golfer, whose family and business commitments precluded regular club day involvement.

COURSE CLOSURE - MONDAY 3 MAY
As published int the 2010 Handbook, the course will be closed for maintenance on Monday 3 May, including greens aeration and the application of fertliser. The tees will also be sprayed with a herbicide. This work is essential prior to the recovery of the greens and tees prior to the onset of winter and the closure will give staff the chance to carry out the work without delays.

MORRIS MYNAH
Morris Mynah turned up for a round a couple of weeks ago, and liked the course so much that he decided to join the Club. It wasn't long before Morris became a minor celebrity, featuring on both local and national media. His presence has generally been well accepted by fellow members and although his eating habits can be somewhat unusual at times, he is only a minor distraction to players. Good on you Morris!

HOW TO REPAIR PITCH MARKS & DIVOTS - CORRECTLY
A pitchmark only takes a few seconds to fix correctly. A pitchmark repaired incorrectly takes over three weeks to heal. In common with the Miami courses referred to by the presenter the video on repairing divots, the dominance of warm season grasses on our course makes the preferred method of repairing divots the use of sand rather than replacement of the divot.
Click on the images below to view a video demonstration on how to correctly repair pitch marks and divots on our course.

Sandbuckets
A supply of sand buckets is provided at the 1st Tee adjacent to the Pro Shop, and sand bins are located at the 1st, 7th and 13th holes. Please return your buckets to the 1st Tee after finishing your round, or if you are going to the car park, leave your bucket under the hedge to the right of the roadway where it exits into the car park (a collection bin will be located at this point once we find something suitable). These will be collected on a daily basis. It is pleasing to see the good level of support for our fairway sanding programme. Please remember to flatten the sand in the divot scar down to ground level. This will minimise the wear and tear on the fairway mower blades.
